POLL: Who is the Antichrist?

Speculation regarding antichrist, different antichrists and the Antichrist has always been rife. Discussion regarding the identity of the Antichrist has certainly not been limited to Christian circles, but is also the topic of countless conversations among non-believers throughout much of the world. A plethora of movies, books and even TV and computer games have been produced, which have portrayed the Antichrist in many different guises. It is a topic which has been the catalyst for many to employ overly-dramatized imagery, much poetic license and vivid imaginations.

The virtual or internet realm has brought an added dimension to the world’s fascination with Antichrist, some even believing that it will be through the medium of the internet that Antichrist will gain eventual control of our armies, finances, natural resources and the minds of people. Much of this has served, in large degree, to add even more speculation and undeserved mystery to the prophesied events surrounding the coming Antichrist. Even to the extent that the personality of Antichrist has been glorified and portrayed as being “an interesting and not really such a bad guy”, or simply someone who will be unfairly persecuted or demonized by Christians for their own ideals.

More often than not, popular secular adaptation of perceived coming events, portrays Antichrist as a perfect-lookingbaby, born to a human mother, with either Satan in human form or a demonic spirit as the father. In other words, it presents an alternative and opposing picture to the events surrounding the birth of Christ, sometimes even portraying a virgin birth due to the ‘supernatural’ involvement of Satan as opposed to that of the Holy Spirit. The ‘evil’ child develops and as he matures, he begins to display super-human physical abilities, remarkable intelligence and growing ‘supernatural’ powers, until eventually on reaching adulthood, he is perfectly positioned to take over control of the entire world with the help of some gun-wielding double-agents and influential henchmen.

At that point, it is up to some unlikely hero clad in black leather, to save the damsel in distress and the rest of the world from annihilation, by defeating Antichrist in one spectacular final nuclear showdown. After some consideration, I found it to be quite insulting to the average intelligence, and a not just a little comical, that the hero who eventually saves the world is often a famous Hollywood actor! Who would have thought that the saviour of the world could have trained for that conspicuous task, in an acting school somewhere in industrial California! I have searched the Scriptures to see if this could be so, and I have yet to find anything to … only in the movies, sigh!

The writings of the Apostle John, the only biblical author to use the name “antichrist”, indicate that many antichrists will appear between the time of Christ’s first and second Coming, but there will be one great antichrist who will rise to power during the end times, or “last hour,” as 1 John phrases it. He will deny that Jesus is the Christ. He will deny both God the Father and God the Son. He will be a liar and a deceiver.

Since John defines antichrist very well in his letters, why does he not mention a political connection? Why didn’t the Lord Jesus ever mention this ‘antichrist’ figure? One would think that such an important teaching surely would not be left out by the Lord. In 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, the antichrist is described as the “man of sin,” or “son of perdition.” Here Paul also warns believers about the antichrist’s ability to deceive. According to futurists, the words “the beast” is used for antichrist several times in Revelation, while preterists and partial preterists make no such association. So, does that describe a beast who brought destruction to the 1st century, or is it a prediction of that which has yet to happen?

The Bible does not say anything specific about where Antichrist will come from, although there is no lack of speculative thinking about when, where and if the Antichrist will appear. Some believe that the Antichrist will not be a person at all, but is rather an anti-Christian spirit which has and will continue to affect millions of unbelievers and followers of false religions. Others believe that the Antichrist was a person in history and that the biblical accounts of him describe events which have already taken place.

It seems that every generation has produced certain infamous and influential characters, of whom some were convinced at the time, was certain to be the antichrist. Martin Luther was convinced that the Roman Catholic pope at the time was the Antichrist. It is said that many alive in Europe at the turn of the 20th century were certain that Adolf Hitler was the Antichrist, quite understandably so and for obvious reasons. There are also many others who, throughout history, have been identified as the Antichrist, while there are many theories which speculate who the future Antichrist will be.

Depending on one’s eschatological position (how one understands the end times), what one person believes to be true about Antichrist, or the antichrist, can differ vastly from another.

I have included in this poll, a list of 25 names and descriptions which are commonly mentioned in identifying the Antichrist. I know there are hundreds more, and maybe I have unintentionally excluded a name which should have been an obvious inclusion on this list. If so, please leave a comment beneath this poll to include that which I have omitted.

Please let us know who you think the antichrist is, was, or will be by partaking in our poll below. As some of the names and descriptions might overlap each other, or you might think that two answers are correct, I have enabled 2 choices per participant, if required.

  1. The prophecy in Revelation says that “he”, therefore, the Anti-Christ is a man. There is also an anti-Christ spirit which fits a lot of people and all the people on the list above. He may be alive now, he may be in a position of power. But whoever he is, he will first be killed, mortally wounded in the head, first thought that he is shot, perhaps assassinated. Revelation also says that he will convince the world that he can bring prosperity to the world, he can “fix” the money problems in the world…a one world government progressive liberal political being. He will have no natural affection for women. How many on your list fit that description? He is the ruler of the Beast that is the one world government. There is a “woman who rides the Beast”, the false one world church, whom the Beast will turn on at some point and “devour her”. He will make the statement that he is God and demand to be worshpped as God, as theologically the Roman popes do today having convinced themselves they are “infallible” and their decrees are as if God made them. So far, we have not recognized the man but we have recognized the Beast government which makes laws to control people and to mark them and to be able to know who they are and where they are at any time; they are controlled by a number without which one cannot get a job or buy food. A few details must come to light before anyone can say for sure who he is.

  2. Nero was the beast described by John and serves as a type of the final anti-Christ who will lead the rebellion before the final coming of Christ, as well as those who exalt themselves against Christ until that time.
    There is nothing in Revelation about a one world currency, government, religion. The mark of the beast is a present reality and was so in John’s day. Revelation spans the whole of history and culminates in the second coming at the end of ch. 20 through 22.

  3. Nice topic. Hard to say who the Antichrist is, any of the names in the list qualify. Me think the Antichrist will have a Jewish or Babylonian background and will wield so much power and influence that all the religious faiths will succumb to his lies, with the help of scientific false proofs, and the powers (behind the scene) that has been governing the world ever since. Believe in God and Christ will be trashed, the banking system will crash and people will be forced to have a chip code on their body. Good will be bad and evil good, loose morals and unnatural practices will be the norms

  4. First, Christ did in fact, mention the antichrist:
    “I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me – if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.” – John 5:43

    Second, I believe the antichrist’s identity cannot be known until it is revealed, by Satan indwelling him after he receives a mortal wound, from which he ‘miraculously’ recovers, causing the nations to ‘wonder’ that his wound was ‘healed.’ At that time, under the power of Satan, he will do wonderous things, ‘showing himself to be god,’ demanding and receiving worship from the world.

      Of John 5:43, not of necessity the Antichrist, and not by the name of Antichrist did Christ mention – “if another shall come in his own name”; rather the false Christs are intended, of whom our Lord speaks, in Mat_24:24, who would rise up of themselves, and not be able to give any proof of their mission; or do anything which might entitle them to the character of the Messiah, or Christ, a name they would take to themselves: as thousands of them did receive Barchocab, the false Christ, who rose up some years after in Adrian’s time; and even some of their greatest Rabbins, as particularly the famous R. Akiba, who was his armour bearer: and it is easy to observe, that though they were so backward to receive, and so much prejudiced against the true Messiah, they were always forward enough to embrace a false one: and indeed to follow any, that set up himself for a temporal deliverer of them; as the instances of Theudas, and Judas of Galilee, with others, show; see Act_5:36.

      • Who knows? Can I post a link on here? I have a very interesting link to a website laying out the case for Charles being the anti-Christ. This site looks at all kinds of information, but most interestingly is his lineage, which goes directly back to King David. They also explain the heraldry symbols in his coat-of-arms, which amongst other states that he is the Black Prince, and that he serves the dragon.

  6. For what it is worth, I just have a thought to consider. We as believers are the Body of Christ, but we are not Christ. The many antichrist’s parallel the body of Christ, but are those who follow Satan. There will be a personage who will come to be their King.

    John 5:43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not accept me; but if someone else comes in his own name, you will accept him.

    This is the one who is referred to as the Antichrist, whom the Jews will receive as their Messiah. He must be from the lineage of David and enable them to rebuild the Temple. This temple however is of the flesh and not a temple that Jesus Christ will ever occupy! Jerusalem on this earth is in Slavery to the Law, Our Mother is Jerusalem above.

    Galatians 4:25 Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children.

    Hebrews 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,

    I believe the “Left Behind” scenario is just preparing the world to accept this earthly Kingdom. Christians are being conditioned to accept that there will be a future Jewish Kingdom established. They are being conditioned to believe that the beast kingdom that is coming will appear evil. No, it will appear to be Judeo-Christian. Just as most people today are deceived that the Roman Catholic Church is of God, those who do not love the truth will actually embrace this false Messiah and his kingdom thinking that it truly is of God. That is why the deception is so great.

    I don’t know that any of us will be able to figure out what is to come ahead of time, but the most important thing is to saturate our minds with the Word of God. If we don’t, we won’t be able to recognize these prophecies when they come to pass.

  7. You are correct, Valerie. That is why I have investigated and studied the deception industry for the last three years. The technology that the body of the anti-Christ already possesses to deceive us with is truly frightening and evil. Our only protection from such technology will and can only be Christ Himself. Christ warns us that the deceit will be so masterful, that if it was possible, even the elect will be deceived. The first and foremost thing we need to guard against is the display of signs and wonders. As much as we are under the protection of Christ, we must also do our part, and investigate everything against the Scriptures. We need to have an idea where and in what format these attacks against our faith will come. Let me give you an example of what I’m talking about. I don’t know if you have seen the latest holographic technology? They used it in a televised event about two years ago when they projected Prince Charles holographically into an event to deliver a speech. He appeared in full colour, 3 dimensionally, at full height. Now just imagine, someone appears in that fashion in front of you and you HEAR him speak to YOU personally in your HEAD? Or even worse, such a person appears in the heavens, on a much larger scale, and you can hear him speak to you? That technology also exists already, in the form of ELF (Extremely Low Frequency electro-magnetic transmissions). I guarantee you, something like that will challenge most people’s believe system. However, if we KNOW that they are capable of doing such things, we can immediately challenge what we see and hear with the Word of God, to see if it comes from and is of God or not. The Bible tells us very clearly how and when Jesus will return. They will try and tell you differently. Seeing is believing, right? Not quite! Gary McKinnon is a British citizen who is wanted in the United States to stand trial for his “crimes”. He has just won his battle not to be extradited. What “crime” did he commit? He hacked into the Pentagon’s military computers, and published what he found on the internet. Amongst the information he published, was the existence of an American fleet of UFO’s, the names of these craft, the names of their captains as well as the names of their crews. These craft will be used in the near future to threaten the world population, and to “prove” the existence of aliens. Now, we KNOW what the Bible says. The Bible says that in the end times, it will be like in the days of Noah. We know that, over and above the fact that mankind sinned in all kinds of manner and was totally Godless, there were also sons of God on the earth. They took for themselves earthly women, and had children with these women. These sons of God were demons, and their DNA was different to our DNA. It was an attempt by satan to defile the human DNA, because he knew that the birth of Jesus would not be possible if the human DNA was mixed with supernatural DNA. God had no option but to destroy the world, hence the flood. The Bible tells us, they will be coming back! It is these demons that will be introduced to the world as “aliens”. The Illuminati will introduce some of these “aliens” as “friendly” towards us, and some will be identified as “hostile”. This is where the American UFO fleet will come into play. Dr Werner von Braun, the WWII German scientist behind the success of the American space program, apparently left Germany not only with his knowledge of rocketry, but also with his knowledge of anti-gravity vehicles. Late in his life, a couple of years before his death, he came to realise that he was deceived, and what they really intend to do with his technology in the future. He has spent the last couple of years trying to warn the world. Of course, he was not given the same platform as he was accustomed to get, because by then, the control of the mainstream media was already in control of the demonic forces of this world. Again, the Bible WARNS us that our battle will NOT be against flesh and blood!

    Just the introduction to the world of these “aliens”, will already challenge Christianity to the very core! It will “prove” the existence of other beings, that the universe is actually populated by many other beings! The United Nations has already established a secret, yet to be announced “Counsel” to deal and “negotiate” with these “aliens”! If anybody thinks that Avatar is just another “cute” animation story, think again! It’s sole purpose was and still is, to soften you up, make you subconsciously used to the idea of “aliens”, and to implant in your psyche that they are nice and friendly. By the time they introduce these demons, you will basically be spiritually conditioned to accept them as real!

    I can go on for hours about the deception we have been exposed to in just the last 15 years alone. The point I’m trying to make is this. If we, as Christians, really want live out lives in a Godly way, we are going to find it increasingly difficult. We are going to be forced to rely on Christ not just on a daily basis, but eventually on an hourly basis. What I’m trying to say is this: it’s not like we don’t rely on Him on an hourly basis, it’s just that we know we are His children, and in the mornings and in the evenings we have our time with Christ, and during the course of the day we have our interactions with Him as well, since we make many decisions consciously and subconsciously based on His Word, and his commandments etc etc. We basically just get on with our normal lives. The time is coming, though, that we are going to need to be consciously in communication with Him on an much more intense manner, because the world will challenge our believe system more intensely and much more frequently than is the case now. Christian persecution is also drastically on the increase worldwide, and we need to be aware of it, we need to pray for those already under persecution, and we need to KNOW that it is coming our way as well. God will protect us, but He can ONLY do that if we are accustomed to His voice, and we are accustomed to follow His instructions. When satan comes with his technology, and speaks to you in your head as if it’s Christ, will you know the difference?

    I pray to God that He will make it possible for you to be able to do that. I pray to God that you will do whatever you need to do to make it possible for God to do that. Don’t suffer because of a lack of knowledge! Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

  8. Thank you so much Valerie and Andre, I will copy and spread your comments to my email list and pray that as many as possible will take the time to read through them. The Lord said that he is our Good Shepherd John 10, and that His sheep listen to His voice and will not listen to a stranger. It is only those who live that close to their Lord that they can distinguish His voice amongst many others who will be safe. Do not just accept things, pray about everything you hear or see, do not trust your own conclusions. Mat.5 says :Blessed are the poor in spirit… those who walk in dependency on the Lord and meassure everything carefully and prayerfully to His Word, the Bible.

  13. Who has the ability to make a treaty with Israel and then break it as the anti-christ will? Whose name is in the scripture about Satan being cast out of heaven? In Luke 10:18, “I beheld Satan fall like lightning from heaven”, lightning = barack, from = O (conjunction), and heaven = Bama. Who seeks to make America part of the one world order?

  15. Obama said America is no longer a Christian nation. He uses Obamacare to persecute the church and Christian business owners. Assessed $1.3 million per day penalty fee against Hobby Lobby for refusing to providing abortion pills (morning after pill) and contraceptives against their religious and moral beliefs to their workers’ insurance. He will use this Obamacare to put Christian business owners out of business by penalizing them out of business.

  16. President Obama? I am trying not to laugh as I type this. Do any of you study what the Bible says about the antichrist? No one alive now can point to a person and say he is the real antichrist. How do we know he is on the earth at this time??

      Well, it seems we do study the Bible, therefore we are able to offer you the verses below, for your consideration. You can choose to dismiss them if you fell so inclined, it really is your choice.
      According to the Apostle John, all who are in Christ can know who is from God, and who is against God (anti-Christ). See verse 3 below, says: “This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already“.

      (1Jn 4:1)  Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
      (1Jn 4:2)  By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
      (1Jn 4:3)  and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.
      (1Jn 4:4)  Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
